"At the beginning, God created... The Alps"

The desire to create this Alpine Epic and turn it into a pluridisciplinary creative laboratory comes from the discovery of Richard Ayres’ play, In the Alps.

 

« In the Alps » is an « illustrated concert’, an Alpine melodrama suitable for everyone, that begins with the creation of the world (then the Alps) and tells us the story of the passionate love affair between a young girl who has survived a plane accident and Bobli,  a young mute , who expresses his love for her by playing the trumpet from the bottom of the valley.

Richard Ayres uses all possible musical references,and, with this play, creates a contemporary work that is suitable for everyone.

He uses humour to ask questions about differences, as well as the myth of the savage child, the perception of time, art or nature.

The play that is written like a tale will be narrated off stage and projected with intertitles, with the help of the scenery,and video illustrations. An actor/dancer will interpret Time.

This venture will be preceded by four movements of the Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss (alternating live music and recordings); this will help develop everything in the Alps that reveals the human, in what is most essential and ridiculous, Man’s frailty and finiteness.

Between each act, an interlude will analyse the perception of musical Time, with different animals, “how the whale, then the fly and lastly a bacteria perceive music”. Thus ,Richard Ayres ironically questions our own perception of music, of art and above all, perception of Time.

To create this show, we want to be able to give ourselves this Time for research, a laboratory of sorts: to use and exhaust the Alps to hear everything the Alps tell us about Time and about 

Man….and then laugh about it.

Using the stage directions, the drawings, the dancing and the music, we will iluustrate the romantic lyricism in Ricahrd Strauss’ Alpine Symphony and the absurd poetry to be found in Richard Ayres’In the Alps, to invite the audience, just for this concert, to follow an unexpected aventure and ask themselves questions with a smile

Above all, we hope to offer this concert to everyone and give access to the orchestra, to the music and the singing.

Le désir de créer cette Épopée Alpine et d’en faire un laboratoire de création multidisciplinaire est né de la découverte de la pièce de Richard Ayres, In the Alps. 

 

In the Alps est un « concert illustré », un mélodrame alpin accessible à tous les publics, qui débute par la création du monde (puis des Alpes), et qui nous relate l’amour passionnel d’une jeune rescapée d’un accident d’avion et de Bobli, jeune homme muet qui lui exprime son amour du fond de la vallée en jouant de la trompette. 

 

Richard Ayres joue de toutes les références musicales et crée avec cette pièce une œuvre contemporaine accessible à toutes les oreilles. Il aborde avec humour tant les questions de la différence que le mythe de l’enfant sauvage, la perception du temps, de l’art ou de la nature. 

 

La pièce, écrite comme un conte, sera racontée en voix off et par des intertitres projetés, enfin accompagéne par des décors et des illustrations en vidéo. Un acteur-danseur interpretera le personnage du Temps.

 

Faire précéder cette aventure par quatre mouvements de la Symphonie Alpestre de Richard Strauss (en alternant le live et la diffusion) permettra de développer tout ce qui dans les Alpes nous révèle l’humain dans ce qu’il a de plus essentiel et de plus risible, la fragilité de l’Homme et sa finitude.

 

Entre chaque acte, un interlude analyse la perception du temps musical par différents animaux. Il imagine comment la baleine, puis la mouche et enfin une bactérie peuvent bien percevoir la musique. Richard Ayres interroge ainsi avec ironie notre propre perception de la musique, de l’art, et avant tout du temps. 

 

Nous voulons pour créer ce spectacle nous offrir ce temps de recherche, un laboratoire. User et épuiser les Alpes, pour entendre tout ce que ce lieu nous dit sur le temps et sur l’Homme. Et d’en rire. 

 

Par la mise en scène, le dessin, la danse et la musique, nous illustrerons le lyrisme romantique de la Symphonie Alpestre de Richard Strauss et l’absurde poésie d’In The Alps de Richard Ayres pour inviter les spectateurs, le temps d’un concert, à découvrir une aventure invraisemblable en s’interrogeant avec le sourire. 

 

Nous souhaitons avant tout offrir cela  à tous les publics, ouvrir un accès au concert, à l’orchestre  à la musique et au chant en présentant un concert illustré et mis en scène .
